Shillong, Mar 10: A man has been sentenced to jail by the court of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (J) for brutally stabbing his wife to death twelve years ago.
Michael Marak was accused of stabbing Nilu Sangma on May 15, 2013 following an argument.
In a verdict passed on March 2, 2026 the court sentenced Marak to two years and eight months in jail, with a total sentence of three years imprisonment and an additional two months in default of fine. He had already served three months and 22 days during trial.
The case was registered at Rynjah Police Station and investigated by Inspector SK Sangma, currently serving the Anti Narcotic Task Force.
