Shillong, Mar 7: A four-day training programme on ‘Natural Farming’ was organised by the District Horticulture Office of Ri-Bhoi in collaboration with ICAR-KVK, Ri-Bhoi, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam from March 2-6.
Farmers numbering 580 from four blocks across villages like Umshru, Pahampadem, Ranibari, Klew, Rtiang, etc. of Ri-Bhoi attended. They were taught on various topics of natural farming by Meghna Sarmah, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy) and hands-on training on different formulations for preparation of organic fertilisers and pesticides, such as Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Ghanajeevamrit, Neemastra, Agniastra, Dashaparni, etc and their application in the field.
The participants were also given leaflets on natural farming written in the local language.
