Shillong, Feb 22: Meghalaya Cricket Association president James PK Sangma organised a consolidated players’ interactive session bringing together players from various teams under the MCA banner, from the seniors down to the U-19s, for an open and candid dialogue.
Although Sangma had previously visited players at various locations across the state, including interactions at Shillong, Nongkhrah in Ri-Bhoi and Tura, where he also inspected grounds and engaged with players and support staff, this was the first time in MCA’s history that a single consolidated players’ meet spanning all major playing categories was organised.
Speaking on the initiative, Sangma underscored the importance of creating consistent and meaningful channels of communication between players and administrators.
He noted that unlike in previous years, where players had limited access to the MCA’s administering office bearers, such interactive forums are essential on a regular basis to understand player concerns, gather feedback and enable the association to function more effectively.
The interactive session follows a series of player-centric initiatives Sangma has undertaken since assuming office as president of the MCA, a release from his office stated today.
Last month, he organised a felicitation programme for the U-23 men’s team in recognition of their triumph in the BCCI’s State A Trophy plate group. The occasion also saw special recognition for Akash K Choudhury and Purav Agarwal, who earned the distinction of being included in the IPL auction list.
Reaffirming his commitment to an open-door approach to administration, the MCA president stated that he intends to conduct such interactions on a regular basis.
He also encouraged players to seek his appointment or write to him directly at any time, ensuring continued access and facilitation of discussion beyond scheduled sessions.
