Shillong, Jan 28: Police are seeking help in identifying the body of a female, which was recovered on the morning of January 27 in Ampati.
The body was recovered near the old waiting shed at Joyfar Junction under Ampati Police Station. Police conducted an inquest at the spot and the body was later shifted to a morgue for a post-mortem.
According to preliminary findings and local witnesses, the deceased appeared to be mentally unstable and in poor health. She was reportedly seen in the area for the past three to four months and is suspected to belong to the Muslim community, as she was often heard uttering “Allah.”
The body of the deceased, a thin-built woman of approximately 60 years of age and about 5 feet tall, with dark complexion and short grey hair, has been kept at the morgue for identification.
