Shillong, Jan 21: One Kmenlang Sana was sentenced by Special Judge (POCSO) B Khriam to 25 years with a fine of Rs 30,000 after being convicted of sexual crimes against a minor girl.
The case dates back to May 2023 when an FIR was registered at Khliehriat Women’s Police Station to the effect that a minor girl was missing from her residence in Ladrymbai.
Sana was charge-sheeted in October that year and he was subsequently found guilty and sentenced under Section 376AB (punishment for rape of a female under 12) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
