A horticulture fair-cum-exhibition was organised by the office of the District Horticulture Officer of West Jaintia Hills under Mission for integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) 2024-2025 at Marian Hill Higher Secondary School Playground, Moosalyngkat, Jowai.
The event brought together farmers and entrepreneurs from across the district showcasing their products.
Present on the occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner DV Lyngdoh and Luciana Lakiang, MAS Joint Director of Horticulture.
M War, Assistant Director Agriculture Officer (Agronomy) provided guidance to farmers on accessing and benefiting from government schemes. She advised the farmers that in the event of crop losses due to natural calamities they should submit a report to the office within 48 hours to ensure timely assistance. She also informed that support is available through various programmes of low interest loans such as the Kisan Credit Card (KCC), insurance schemes to protect crops and other initiatives providing tools and machinery and essential agriculture inputs. She also encouraged the farmers to approach the office whenever needed assuring that the office is committed to supporting farmers.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the exhibition.
