Shillong, Jan 13: Leader of Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma has decided to sponsor the education of the eldest daughter of Dilseng M Sangma, an activist who was murdered recently.
Dr Sangma visited the family of the ACHIK member yesterday along with Dadenggre MLA Rupa M. Marak, MDCs, and TMC leaders.
The party has demanded the immediate arrest and maximum punishment for the perpetrators, immediate shutdown of all illegal stone quarries in the area and regular police patrolling.
Dilseng, a leader of ACHIK, was killed on January 9 when he, along with several other activists, went to the Rajabala area of West Garo Hills district after suspecting illegal stone quarrying activities in the region. Another activist accompanying him sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.
So far four persons have been arrested in the case.
