Shillong, Jan 5: While illegal coke plants are being razed as per the Meghalaya High Court directive, two factories have reportedly set up base in West Khasi Hills district.
According to the Maweit Land Owners Traders and Labor Association (MALOT&LA) Nongrim Hills Coke Factory and Rymbai Coke Factory, are allegedly planning to operate from the district.
The association has taken up the matter with Deputy Commissioner Garod LSN Dykes and demanded immediate intervention. “We will not allow these factories to operate without complying with rules,” MALOT&LA Secretary Anthony Umïong said.
The association plans to take out a mass rally against the purported move on January 9.
