Jowai, Sep 18: The District Institute of Education (DIET) Thadlaskein, West Jaintia Hills celebrated the Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of Service in the field of teacher education.
Educational Research and Training Director R.S Manners, who attended the celebration as the chief guest, unveiled the jubilee plague and officially declared the opening of the Silver Jubilee celebration.
In her address, she congratulated the DIET and commended the faculty for their unwavering dedication in nurturing and shaping educators. She highlighted the institute’s growth from BTC to DIET, with plans for future centres of excellence, expressing confidence that DIET would continue to make a significant contribution to education in the region.
She encouraged teacher trainees to make the most of the opportunities provided, reminding them they were specially selected from among many.
DIET Principal Dr. B. Danibha Pyrbot highlighted the institute’s journey from its founding vision to the present, mentioning that thousands of teachers and alumni have carried the torch of quality education, emphasising that DIET’s success comes from the dedication and passion of the faculty, staff and community.
PWD Executive Engineer P Lhuid also addressed the gathering.
The day was celebrated with songs, dance and various activities and position holders of the batch 2023-25 were felicitated.
Established in September 2000, DIET provides academic and resource support for programs in elementary and adult education. It serves as a model institution for effective planning, execution and maintaining a harmonious and efficient educational environment, playing a key role in shaping educators and strengthening the district education system.
