Shillong, Sep 16: As part of the ongoing Yatri Sewa Diwas celebrations aimed at enhancing passenger experience and promoting community engagement at the airport, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has planned a series of passenger-centric and cultural activities on September 17.
In a statement today, the Shillong Airport said passengers arriving at the airport will be given a warm welcome with flowers and traditional hospitality.
The terminal will come alive with a vibrant folk dance (Ka Shad Synrai) performed by a local group to celebrate unity, joy, and cultural identity, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Meghalaya.
To mark the occasion, several new passenger-friendly facilities, will be inaugurated.
These facilities will include a kid’s zone, to provide a safe and engaging space for children, library for travellers to enjoy books and reading material while waiting for their flights, AVSAR a dedicated outlet giving local artisans and craftsmen the opportunity to showcase and sell their products inside the terminal and a workstation zone equipped for passengers who wish to continue their professional work while traveling.
The airport will host several interactive and welfare-oriented in Quiz and painting competitions inside the terminal, encouraging participation from passengers, especially children as well as a free health check-up counter for travelers, taxi drivers, and a blood donation camp in collaboration with local health authorities.
“The celebrations reflect Shillong Airport’s commitment to providing a pleasant, safe, and engaging travel experience for passengers, while also contributing to social welfare and community bonding,” the statement said.
