Editor,
It is with deep anguish and profound sadness that a little girl Insaphira Mawnai aged around 4 years was snuffed out of this world far away from her parents by unknown barbarians speaks volumes of what social security is all about in short the lack of community policing by respective localities as it is the norm.
We see most localities having VDPs but how these are put to use is a pertinent question. How does the responsibility equally lie with the Dorbar Shnongs who are said to be ‘guardians’ of the community? Personally, there is something very wrong within the Khasi society to hear such heinous crimes being committed on small children, young girls and women even on young men as well. Not a single month goes without hearing of people missing or murdered which needs more action from all sides both from the government, community, locality Dorbars, pressure groups who in fact should take up this challenge rather than just words. We trust the district police under Vivek Syiem that this case shall be taken to its logical conclusion.
