Shillong, Sep 14: The Child Friendly Shillong project, under Bosco Integrated Development Society (BIDS) recently released its Project Evaluation Report, Child-Led Survey and Stories of Change.
The event was graced by Agatha Sangma, Chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR). Other dignitaries present included Matti Warjri (DCPO), Isabella Sohtun (DSEO), representatives from various NGOs, school principals and teachers, and members of Child Rights Clubs from different schools in Shillong.
In her speech, Sangma acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the government and organisations like Child Friendly Shillong. She praised the project’s focus on child safety, an often overlooked aspect of child rights.
Sangma highlighted various government programmes and missions aimed at protecting child rights, such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mission Shakti and legal remedies like the POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act and Child Marriage Prohibition Act.
