Nongpoh, Aug 28: The court of Special Judge (POCSO) has sentenced three men to jail for rape of three minor children in Ri Bhoi district.
Mawri Ksing, Sbishon Songthiang and Bron Prang were found guilty under Section 448/376D/511/354A IPC read with Section 9 (g)/10 POCSO Act.
The court sentenced the persons to rigorous imprisonment for 10 years and fine of Rs. 20,000 for offence of attempted gang rape u/s 376D/511 IPC.
For house trespassing under section 448 IPC, the convicts will have to undergo simple imprisonment of six months, rigorous imprisonment of two years and fine of Rs 1,000 for offence of sexual harassment under Section 354A IPC, rigorous imprisonment for six years and fine of Rs. 10,000 for offence of aggravated sexual assault.
The case goes back to June 28, 2017 when the three men under the influence of alcohol sexually assaulted three children.
A case was registered at Nongpoh Police Station and investigated by UBSI E. Khardewsaw.
