Nongpoh, Aug 8: Minister of Community & Rural Development Abu Taher Mondal today formally inaugurated a newly constructed traditional market at Lumdaitkhla, Bhoirymbong.
The market comprises 66 stalls with Rs 5 crore funding from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The project is expected to significantly benefit the local shopkeepers by offering them a structured and accessible platform for trade and commerce.
Mondal lauded the government’s initiative in sanctioning the project, noting that it would greatly benefit the shopkeepers. He urged the village authorities to ensure proper maintenance of the market so that it continues to serve the needs of the local community.
He highlighted that Bhoirymbong is a major market hub for the local population and stressed that the traditional market should be developed to promote the local economy through business and trade.
Cabinet Minister Alexander Laloo Hek and Umroi MLA Damanbait Lamare encouraged collective efforts to ensure that the traditional market becomes a valuable resource for local shopkeepers, enabling them to sustain their livelihoods.
Umroi MDC Isynei Hinge, Bhoirymbong BDO Dr. R. Talang, Headman of Lumdaitkhla S.T. Rympei, officials, village leaders, and residents were present at the function.
