Defending champions Meghalaya experienced a hiccup today in their title defence in boys’ football at the 7th Khelo India Youth Games in Begusarai, Bihar, after losing to Odisha 2-1.
Meghalaya had won their opening Group A fixture two days ago against Chandigarh 10-1.
With two teams progressing to the semifinals from each group, Meghalaya still retain a chance but will need at least a draw against West Bengal on Saturday to go through.
West Bengal defeated Chandigarh 6-0 today and had lost to Odisha 2-0 on Tuesday.
As things stand, Odisha are at the top of the group with 6 points, followed by Meghalaya (3 points, +8 goal difference), West Bengal (3 points, +4 goal difference) and Chandigarh (0 points).
