Shillong, May 29: The Assam Regimental Centre held its passing out for 726 Agniveers at its parade ground in Happy Valley, here today.
The ceremonial parade marks the completion of the training schedule for recruits at the training centre. These Agniveers will be serving in Assam Regiment units at various locations spread across the country.
The parade was reviewed by Governor of Uttarakhand Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, in the presence of General Officer Commanding, 101 Area, Lieutenant General Mohit Wadhwa.
Foreign dignitaries, senior officers of Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Seychelles and Sri Lanka were also present.
The Governor recounted the contribution of the North East and that of the Assam Regiment as part of the Indian Army towards nation building. He emphasised on the core military values of duty, sacrifice, discipline, patriotism and congratulated the young soldiers on successful completion of their rigorous training.
The ceremony was attended by parents and relatives of Agniveers. The proud parents were bestowed with ‘Gaurav Padak’ as a mark of gratitude by the Indian Army.
