Shillong, May 29: Governor Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar has observed that many deserving students of Meghalaya are unable to access important benefits offered through various government schemes due to a lack of technical knowledge and insufficient awareness.
The governor who attended a special interaction session with beneficiaries of the Post Matric Scholarship (ST) scheme held today at Lok Bhavan, Shillong, stressed the need for awareness workshops in colleges and universities across Meghalaya.
He also assured the students that their concerns would be taken up with the Education Department and the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs to help resolve the issues faced by beneficiaries.
Highlighting the importance of education and opportunity, he stated that government welfare schemes are designed to secure the future of students, adding that when students succeed, society and the nation progress together.
During the programme, students interacted with officials from departments associated with the scholarship scheme, raising queries regarding the application process and sharing the challenges they face while applying for the scholarship.
