Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today said that the State government is gearing up to inaugurate 50 new projects in the State to mark Meghalaya’s 50th year of Statehood next year.
Inaugurating the new building of St Andrew’s Secondary School Block at Reking in North Garo Hills the Chief Minister also said that the government has accorded priority to upscale the education sector and has made huge investment to create a better learning environment in elementary, secondary and college level.
He informed the gathering that MDA government has sanctioned Rs 12 cr each to colleges in Williamnagar and Baghmara, which will be completed by next year. The Model College in Rongjeng in East Garo Hills is almost completed and will be inaugurated during the Statehood day celebration next year, he added.
He expressed his concerns over the poor pass percentage in secondary and higher secondary level and said that government is working with stakeholders to ensure that educational standard is improved across the State.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also addressed different producers group at Reking in Adokgre and spoke about the FOCUS programme.
He also handed over cheques amounting to Rs 31.15 lakhs to 35 producers group from the village.
