Five persons have been arrested for their involvement in a drunken brawl at Laitumkhrah.
Police said the accused persons are from both the groups and were arrested only for the assault incident following the drunken brawl prior to the arson case.
Names of the persons were not disclosed. They were produced before the court and remanded to five days police custody.
The beginnings of the disturbance reportedly began near the Directorate of Health Services office, a few hundred metres from the station.
Following the brawl, one of the groups came to the police station to file a complaint. As they were doing so, the other group also came to the station and demanded that police not to register the FIR. A commotion then broke out and, as police were attempting to resolve it, some members of one of the groups set a police Gypsy on fire and began hurling stones at the station.
