Shillong, May 20: The State Level Inter-School Athletics Meet 2026 was inaugurated today at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Shillong Training Centre, on the NEHU campus here.
Organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, in collaboration with the Meghalaya Athletics Association, athletes from all 12 districts are featuring across 48 events with a contingent of nearly 900 athletes and team officials.
The state-level event follows on from district-level meets that saw participation of 9,681 athletes from 380 schools.
Day 1 featured a comprehensive lineup of track and field events across the U-14, U-16 and U-18 categories for both boys and girls. The morning session saw field events, including the long jump, high jump, javelin and shot put, concurrently with heats for the 60m, 100m, 600m and 4x400m relays. The afternoon session resumed with the 100m and 60m finals, triathlon events and preliminary heats for the 300m, 400m and 1000m races.
