East Jaintia Hills police arrested three persons accused of stealing a bike from Patharkandi, Karimganj in Assam.
Police said some good Samaritans from Umkiang village detected a Yamaha R15 motorcycle bearing registration number AS10G 0563 and brought it to the police patrol post.
During interrogation the rider identified as Hanif Uddin confessed that the motorcycle was stolen from Patharkandi, Karimganj and was planning to deliver at Sookilo, Khliehriat along with two other accomplices in a blue Alto car, police said.
Immediately, a police team detected the vehicle and brought it to the PPP along with the suspects, Md Fakrul Haque and MD Anam Uddin.
Police said the officer in charge at Patharkandi has confirmed that a theft case has already been registered there.
Meanwhile, one Arjun Kumar Mahatoo lodged a complaint that on the intervening night of April 26 and 27, while he was sleeping inside MUDA parking lot at Mawlonghat, Ïewduh unknown miscreant(s) stole his scooter (AS-01EG-1106), one mobile phone and wallet.
In another complaint filed by one Pupartbrook G Momin on April 25, unknown miscreant(s) stole his scooter (ML-13A-7093) from his residential premises in North Garo Hills.
Riadur Rahaman of Kandergaon West Garo Hills lodged a complaint that on April 14 around 2 pm, his motorcycle was found missing from the village.
Meanwhile, in a case of fraud, one male resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on April 14 around 7 pm, he received one anonymous phone call, wherein the caller claimed to be an agent/seller of second hand motorcycles through ‘Facebook’ and persuaded him to buy one Avenger motorcycle for Rs. 45,000.
However, later the complainant realised that he had been cheated.
