IIM Shillong held its 10-day artist residency programme, which concluded yesterday, aiming to integrate creativity with management education through the housing of 100-plus paintings.
Held at the IIM’s Umsawli campus, the programme brought together 16 artists from institutions across the country from November 6 to 16, “offering them a unique opportunity to live and collaborate with the IIM Shillong community”.
The second edition of the residency was inaugurated by Shishir Kumar Bajoria, chairman of the institute’s board of governors.
Organized by Zeitgeist, the institute’s literary, quizzing and activities club, this initiative aimed to create a vibrant space for interaction and inspiration, where the worlds of art and management could intersect.
During the course of the programme, IIM Shillong hosted a keynote session featuring Jeet Banerjee, founder of Gameplan Sports Pvt Ltd, who shared his entrepreneurial journey and insights into the creative industry. Additionally, Paula Sengupta, member of the board of governors, presented a discussion on her art, delving into themes of domestic space, patriarchy and the enduring impact of colonialism.
This year’s theme, Misty Musings: The Shifting Landscape, explored the interplay between clarity and obscurity, inviting artists and the wider IIM Shillong community to look beyond the surface.
