Twenty-six students from Meghalaya were safely evacuated from flood-hit Sikkim and reached the state today, officials said.
The Meghalaya government had started the evacuation process by arranging five vehicles to evacuate 26 students from the Himalayan Pharmacy Institute and Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology at Majhitar, East Sikkim
Official said the students arrived at ISBT, Shillong at 6:42 pm.
Days after floods inundated parts of Sikkim and northern West Bengal, the Meghalaya government yesterday activated helpline, 1800-345-3644, for stranded students and citizens.
