For the third time, personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) seized human hair that was being smuggled to Bangladesh from the international border in East Khasi Hills.
The border sentinels seized several bags of human hair weighing 125 kg yesterday.
Altogether 225 kg of human hair was seized by the BSF of the Meghalaya frontier since January 2022.
BSF officials said smuggling of human hair is a new trend as such cases have ever been detected prior to this year. Real human hair is often used in the manufacture of wigs.
Meanwhile, 73 cattle meant to be smuggled were also recovered by the BSF from the international border in East Jaiñtia hills.
A total of 450 cattle were seized by BSF this month.
“Owing to increasing smuggling attempt, BSF enhanced alertness on the international border to strengthen national security as well as to prevent all kind of trans-border crimes and illegal activities,” the BSF said.
