A two-week search for two missing teenage girls concluded today with the pair found in a village in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district.
Two separate missing person complaints were received at Pasteur beat house in Shillong on May 26. One concerned a 13-year-old girl from Golflink Khliehshnong and the other a 15-year-old from Pynthorbah.
On investigation, police learned that the two knew each other, making it more likely that they may have travelled together. Look-out notices were sent all over the country and police tried to no avail to locate them.
However, the missing persons desk, led by Havildar Sanjit Pandey and the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Topon Marak, left no stone unturned and, through a lot of hard work, found the pair today in Tumpreng, Assam, in the home of relatives of one of the girls.
Police will continue to find out the reasons and circumstances behind the two girls running away.
