Shillong, Apr 15: East Garo Hills police arrested 15 persons accused in the murder of a man at Dagal Nachikol village.
The victim, Talseng T Sangma was mentally unstable and allegedly attempted to attack people before being assaulted by a group of assailants within his own compound on April 8, police said today.
According to Superintendent of Police Stephen A Rynjah, the victim sustained grave injuries due to the assault and subsequently succumbed to his wounds while being transported to the Civil Hospital in Williamnagar. The assailants reportedly entered the victim’s property unlawfully and threatened his family with severe repercussions.
Following the incident, a written FIR was lodged at the Songsak Police Station.
Investigations are currently underway, with police apprehending 15 of the 16 named suspects.
Authorities have conducted all necessary legal formalities, including a post-mortem examination on the deceased.
