A total of 131 persons have been named for their involvement in a clash that broke out between the TMC and the NPP at Charbatapara booth in Phulbari assembly constituency of West Garo Hills district.
Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor today informed that 25 persons have so far been bound over by the police today and the remaining with the done too, to prevent such incidents in the future.
He said a case has been registered and investigation is going on as efforts are being made by district election machinery to arrest the persons involved in the incident.
“All trouble mongers shall be made to execute bond for good behaviour. Authorities are keeping a close watch over the situation,” Kharkongor said.
Meanwhile, security has tightened in plain belt of Garo hills after the clash. The SDO and SDPO along with BDOs have been deployed and stationed in the area while three companies of CAPF have been deployed in the entire area.
As per report of the DEO a scuffle occurred between workers of the TMC and NPP at around 10.45 pm last night at Charbatapara village.
As per information, S. G. E. Mominin (ex-MLA and TMC candidate), Moni Mondol (TMC), Bhuttu (TMC), and Habibur Zaman (MDC/NPP) was present at the spot.
Accordingly, on receipt of information, team from Phulbari Police Station rushed to the place of violence and controlled the situation.
Nine persons were sent for medical examination at Phulbari CHC but all were discharged after examination.
One person, Nojrul Hoque, has been advised to contact a better healthcare facility as the injury was near his eye.
An FIR has also been submitted by one Nozim Hussain alleging that one procession led by Habibur Zaman (NPP) stopped near his house and pelted stones at his house due to which four persons were injured.
As per the report of the DEO, the reason for clash was that while Habibur Zaman and his supporters were passing through the village, few TMC supporters hit their Scorpio vehicle which led to the scuffle.
