Residents of several border villages in East Jaiñtia Hills are reeling under darkness for the last five days, the Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP), South Eastern Border Area circle has stated.
According to the organisation, 12 villages that include Umsatai Ladwahwapung, Deinsatlang Pynurkba, Bataw, Umlyngsha Lakadong and Lama Borghat are without electricity since April 23.
The FKJGP has urged the MeECL to restore electricity in the villages at the earliest. The organisation said people especially the students are badly affected, due to the non-availability of electricity.
