Eleven Bangladeshis travelling without valid documents were arrested along with three Indian nationals in East Jaiñtia Hills district.
According to police, the Village Defence Party (VDP) of Kuliang village and the dorbar had detained the Bangladeshi nationals on suspicion yesterday. The village secretary subsequently filed a FIR against these illegal infiltrators.
Police also arrested the driver of the vehicle in which the Bangladeshi nationals were travelling and the two local persons.
The driver has been identified as Amal Kanti Das from Cachar district of Assam, while the two local perons identified as John Patwad and Jingieit Suting of Kuliang village.
The arrested Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Mizanur Rahman, Arob Ali, Md Hemail, Sapon Das, Haja Moin Uddin Sistya, Md Rizwan, Hashina Begum, Husinara Begum, Ufla Khatun, Musamid Halima Begum and Chobra.
