A 38-year old man was killed today after a powerful blast inside his bedroom in Lumkynsai, Smit.
The deceased, Pynsuklang Khongwir, was bed ridden after undergoing a spinal surgery two months back, police said.
The incident happened at around 12 noon.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said, the blast was tremendous which also caused damage to some rooms of the house in the ground floor.
In the preliminary enquiry, the family members mentioned that the deceased person had earlier attempted suicide twice, Nongtnger said.
“During the examination of place of occurrence, bits and pieces of power source for initiation of blast were identified, the SP said as the bomb squad team and CSU team are verifying the cause of explosion.
A case has been registered and investigation is on.
