The Meghalaya Youth Exchange Programme 2023, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, concluded today after bringing together around 700 youths from all 12 districts of the state.
The exchange programme began on October 16 and the closing ceremony was held here today.
Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Shakliar Warjri was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he commented on the enthusiasm and potential of the youth in showcasing their remarkable talents through the programme. He urged the participants to take advantage of the platform provided, to learn from each other in promoting and enriching their talents and also to be aware of different cultures of the tribes in the state.
The minister also highlighted the various government initiatives that have been designed to promote and uplift the skills and talents of Meghalaya’s youth and to improve the quality of life in general.
During the week-long celebration, various events were conducted, like folk song and dance competitions, guitar and flute competitions, debates and ex tempore speeches, one act play on the theme ‘Mission Life’, talent hunt and adventure activities.
Winners of various competitions were awarded trophies and certificates.
