The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) will begin a drive in the state with the aim of getting the party member to 1 lakh.
Speaking at the launch here today, state Congress president and Shillong MP Vincent Pala urged the youth to sign up to the MPYC to bring about positive change in the party and state.
Membership in the Youth Congress is open to those between 18 and 35 years old.
Sarifa Rahman, the Youth Congress secretary in charge of Meghalaya said that the Covid-19 pandemic has not meant that the youth wing of the party is silent.
“We have turned the entire membership online, so that we don’t have to do any physical meeting,” she said, adding that due to Covid-19 one may not see the Youth Congress but its members are everywhere.
“We are having by-elections and our people are working everywhere in the constituencies. In Garo Hills, Shillong, you will see our members, they are working hard for the party,” Rahman said.
She also attacked those senior party figures who have defected, describing them as being “selfish and greedy”.
