World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) was organised by the office of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of South West Khasi Hills today in collaboration with the office of the District Medical and Health Officer at Balang Mawlangwir Higher Secondary on the theme, ‘My Meghalaya, Tobacco-Free Meghalaya’.
WNTD rallies and signature campaigns were organised in the district over the past month with a view to create awareness and sensitise the masses about the impact of tobacco consumption so as to bring about a change which will lead to a reduced rate in tobacco consumption.
D Sohtun, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, dwelt at length on the various rules and regulations with regards to the use of tobacco.
