Leader of Opposition in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Titosstarwell Chyne has praised the NPP-led executive committee for working towards protection of the land and recognition to clans.
“This current term will remain in history because the Land Bill to protect the land has been passed and it was in 2021 that the Governor approved the Land Acquisition Act and through the Lineage Act, the clans have been recognised,” Chyne remarked at the people’s assembly held today.
He also congratulated the executive committee for its efforts in bringing in the dorbar shnongs, youth and women organisations. “Let us bring unity to preserve the customs and traditions, the dorbar shnongs and others,” he urged.
Meanwhile, the meeting discussed the drug menace in the state and called for a decision to be taken to combat it.
Working president of the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur ka Bri U Hynñiewtrep, an assembly of clan leaders, Erwin K Syiem Sutnga said that the drug trafficking and use has increased these days and it is necessary to take collaborative action to fight against this enemy.
