Toughening his stand, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today said that the MDA government would not reinstate the three Lokayukta officials who have been removed recently.
Speaking to media persons today, Tynsong also said that his government would not call the VPP for talks on the issue.
“We will not reinstate the officials nor will we invite the VPP for a talk. If they come to us for a talk then we will see,” he said.
“The VPP’s demand makes no sense but only shows that they have a close connection with the officials removed,” Tynsong added.
He reiterated that the government has proceeded on the matter as per the rules and procedures of the Meghalaya Lokayukta Act that states that only in-service officers should be in the State Lokayukta.
“On what basis should we reinstate the officers as demanded by the VPP when we have appointed new officers in all the three posts,” he said.
