Troops of 43 Bn BSF Meghalaya in a joint operation with Baghmara police apprehended a woman along with the banned cough syrup, Phensedyl.
Acting on a specific tip-off, the team carried out a search operation in the house the woman identified as Maithy Ch Marak of Phanda villages, along the international border in South Garo Hills and seized 179 bottles of Phensedyl bottles which were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh, the BSF said.
She was handed over to Baghmara police for further legal action.
The BSF also informed that since January, the total seizure of Phensedyl totals to 1150 bottles.
