To celebrate Independence Day tomorrow, the District Sports Officer of South West Khasi Hills held an open race in Mawkyrwat today, with 214 runners participating.
The 10km race was flagged off by SWKH Additional Deputy Commissioner LT Tariang.
The winner of the male category was Wolbetstar Ramsiej (31 minutes, 40.21 seconds), while Jomsingstar Ramsiej (32:25.64) came second and Iwelljohn Ramsjiej (33:13.96) third.
The winner of the female category was Marqueenles Ramsiej (40:54.54), who finished ahead of Lyntijingkyrmen Kharjahrin (41:32.26) and Bandasharai Marweiñ (42:03.61).
There was also recognition for the oldest runner – Lambert Thyrniang – and the youngest – Lamshwa Wanniang, Banshemphang Shangdiar, Mejiedkyrpang Pariong (boys), Dananglashai Kharajahrin, Lapynjanai Kharjahrin and Damanbha Wahlang (girls).
