The West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has reduced seating capacity of passengers in bother private and commercial vehicles in the district.
For seven-seater vehicles the number of passengers allowed is five including the driver, three passengers plus the driver in five-seater vehicles and two passengers including the driver in auto rickshaws. Buses will be allowed to carry only 50 per cent from the capacity while local taxis can ferry only three passengers that also include the driver.
In another order, the deputy commissioner directed closure of all lower primary schools in West Khasi Hills from April 30 to May 15.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the West Khasi Hills district administration has also prohibited parking from Civil Hospital, Mawlangdep to Nonbah from 8 am of April 30.
Besides, the orders the DC has promulgated curfew from May 1 to May 15 from 10 pm to 5 am daily.
