Residents of many villages under the Mowkaiaw constituency have expressed concern over the dilapidated road that connects them to a health centre and other important departments of the state and criticised the government for failing to steps for their wellbeing.
The road from Shilliang Myntang-Samatan-Thadialong to Takhniang, Nongjngi that caters to villages such as Mukroh, Barato, Thngrain, Nartiang, Wahiajer, Ummulong and others is in shambles as no repairs have been undertaken for many years.
While repair works were made for half of the stretch, that is, from Nartiang to Tahkhniang, residents said the entire road stretch has worsened.
Locals said that the worse condition of the road is a continuous agony for commuters, especially patients who have to travel to the Nartiang PHC, the police station and schools located in Ummulong. Farmers too are facing problems transporting their produce to the Wahiajer market leading to loss, they added.
According to locals, only trucks and dumpers can pass through the stretch from Shilliang Myntang to Nongjngi. They urged authorities to end their sufferings and provide them with a good road.
