A webinar on ‘Importance of blood donation and its challenges’ was today organised by the Youth Red Cross, Shillong College Unit.
Principal of the college, Dr E. Kharkongor in her address reiterated that Youth Red Cross Society has become one of the strongest humanitarian organisations globally since its Inception.
She said that aim of the webinar is to serve and safe life which is crucial in the modern context. She asserted that there is no life without blood, since it enhances a sense of service to the society.
The resource person at the programme, Dr Barilin Passah, Medical and Health Officer, (MD, Immunohematology and blood Transfusion), Pasteur Institute, Shillong stressed that life and death situation requires blood transfusion which response to emergency situation.
Passah accentuated on the facts about blood transfusion especially from safe sources and classified on the different categories through which blood can be donated. She also encouraged participants to come forward for blood donation.
