The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has urged the Meghalaya government to take immediate steps for release of the fund relating to the implementation of the MGNREGS in the State.
It may be recalled that the Government of India on June 26 issued an order for the release of the first tranche of Central assistance towards the material component of MGNREGS for the year 2023-24 to Meghalaya amounting to Rs 301.94 crore.
“The early disbursal of the grant assumes significance for the rural populace that depends on the scheme to augment the limited means of livelihood,” said VPP spokesman Dr. Batskhem Myrboh.
