The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has withdrawn the nomination of Marbiang Nongsiej, a candidate earlier proposed by the party, to contest the upcoming district council election from Nongstoiñ constituency.
Nongsiej has been replaced by Juristman Iawphniaw.
Without citing reasons for the cancellation VPP state election committee secretary Londoner M Sohtun in a statement said “The decision is taken in the interest of the party and the people in general.”
It may be mentioned that the VPP had earlier said that its state executive committee “reserves the right” to review and/or revoke the candidature of any candidate for the district council election if a candidate is found not deserving or if a candidate deviates from the principles and direction of the party.
