Voice of the People (VPP) president Ardent M. Basaiawmoit has said that his party would stand firm on its ideals and principles and perform its role as a strong opposition party.
In an appeal issued today, Basaiawmoit said that the ongoing political developments in the State in which all regional parties have switched over to the NPP-led government would not dishearten the party.
“Supporters of the VPP should not have any doubts or apprehensions. We will not betray them. I appeal to them to keep supporting us and uphold us in their prayers. Together with the people we will fight against all odds,” he said.
It may be mentioned that VPP shocked political analysts when it secured four seats in the recent elections. The landslide victory in Mawlai has stunned everyone.
The party which was considered a debutant in Meghalaya politics also gave its rivals a run for their money in a number of seats.
