A popular spot for locals to while away some of their free time before the Covid-19 pandemic, Lady Hydari Park’s footfall is increasing only slowly even after the relaxation of most coronavirus-related restrictions.
Although the park is open, swings and other amusement areas for children are still off-limits and have been barricaded with bamboo.
Children below the age of 10 and adults above 65 are not allowed to visit the park, according to Covid protocols issued by the state government.
It is only in the last few days that numbers have started to pick up, but a guard at the gate, who was in full protective gear, said that even then barely 50 to 60 people visit during holidays.
Strict protocols are maintained for those entering the premises, with visitor names and mobile numbers taken down along with temperature checks and sanitizing of hands.
