Shillong, Apr 20: A tragic landslide occurred on Monday evening at Mawlieh village along the Shillong–Dawki road.
The incident took place in a section of the highway where construction work is underway.
It is feared that there may be at least one fatality as rescue teams have reached the site to clear the rubble.
According to initial reports, the landslide struck around 5 pm while a bolero pick-up was in motion. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as debris cascaded down the hill, trapping the vehicle underneath.
Till filing of this report no updates have been made available by authorities as emergency services have commenced clearance operations at the site to retrieve the trapped vehicle and if there are any victim (s) from beneath the landslide debris.
