Jowai, Aug 29: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), West Jaintia Hills in collaboration with the office of the Superintendent of Police conducted a sensitisation programme on court procedures for Village Defence Party (VDP) members in Jowai.
The legal awareness programme aims to strengthen the VDP members’ on legal procedures and their role in supporting law enforcement.
The resource person, Additional Public Prosecutor D. Langbang outlined the role of VDPs and explained the basic court procedures.
Community Liaison Officer R. Pde spoke on the vital role of the VDPs’ in fostering cooperation between the community and the police.
Reserve Inspector of Jowai Police Reserve S. Manner explained the procedures related to First Information Reports (FIRs) and charge sheets in criminal cases.
