Shillong, Nov 25: Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu has stressed the need to prioritise education and healthcare, ensuring every child and citizen accesses free, fair, and quality services.
Sahu, who chaired a review meeting with officials of South Garo Hills district today emphasised the government’s focus on transforming backward states with central support, driven by the principle of ‘Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ (development and trust for all).
Deputy Commissioner Sumit Kumar Singh presented a progress report on government schemes, including Prime Minister Awas Yojana (U) 2.0, Ayushman Bharat, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, and MGNREGA. Sahu provided valuable feedback to boost project success.
The Minister also visited the Baghmara Housing Complex, interacted with PMAY beneficiaries at Bolsal A.ding, and inspected the BSF Camp and Wagesik Check Post.
His tour concluded at Rangku Memorial Girls Secondary School, where he engaged with Self-Help Group members and met PMEGP scheme beneficiaries.
