Badhok Nongmalieh, who ran as a United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate for the Jirang seat in the 2023 state election, was arrested by Arunachal Pradesh police last night.
Nongmalieh is also the Rangbah Shnong of Mawtnum village in Ri-Bhoi,
A team from Itanagar police station travelled to Ri-Bhoi where they effected the arrest of Nongmalieh based on a non-bailable warrant issued by a Judicial Magistrate First Class in Yupia, Arunachal.
The arrest was made within the jurisdiction of Nongpoh police station. Local authorities coordinated with the police of Arunachal in making the arrest.
The reasons for the warrant remain undisclosed at this stage.
