Deputy Chief Minister and NPP State president, Prestone Tynsong has once again targeted VPP on the issue of use of Hindi language even as he accused the party of being dramatic.
Speaking to media persons here today, Tynsong referred to a recent election appeal of VPP in Hindi language.
“Even their election appeal is in Hindi. I don’t know from where they got a professional to draft the appeal in Hindi and it looks so dramatic on their part because inside the Assembly, they say something and outside they say something,” Tynsong said.
It may be mentioned that VPP legislators had strongly opposed the address of the Meghalaya Governor in Hindi language inside the Assembly.
However, VPP leaders maintain that they never opposed Hindi language but only against its use in the Assembly since it is not an official language in the State.
Tynsong also slammed the VPP over the use of the narrative “Jaitbynriew” saying the VPP’s concept of “Jaitbynriew” is confined to few districts whereas NPP wants to make sure that tribals are protected not only in the North East but throughout the country.
The deputy chief minister who is also the State NPP president meanwhile admitted that all the candidates who are contesting the Lok Sabha election in Shillong parliamentary seat are strong.
“Our party candidate is working hard and we are confident that we will come out victorious in both Shillong and Tura seats,” he said.
According to Tynsong, the NPP is treating the Lok Sabha election very seriously and directions have been given to units of the party in every village to reach out to every household.
