Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has found that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) altered the specifications in the widening of Ranikor – Nonghyllam – Maheshkhola – Baghmara road.
The estimated value of the project is Rs 176.16 crore. The scope of work includes improvement/widening to two-laning with earthen shoulder of Nongjri (design ch 30.00 km) to Maheshkola (design ch 55.525 km )[R-M-B Package-II] on SH-4 Section of Ranikor-Maheshkhola-Baghmara project.
Tynsong, who visited the road project yesterday to ascertain whether the NHIDCL followed the specifications as per the tender, however found that the road was constructed in the form of a single lane and not two lanes.
This anomaly was detected on the stretch across Borbasing bridge to Alikwareng junction.
Speaking to accompanying media persons, Tynsong said that the five kilometer stretch of the road was constructed in the form of a single-lane road or intermediate lane road.
He also asked the NHIDCL officials to correct the anomaly and ensure that the road was widened into two lanes as per the detailed project report.
“I hope that NHIDCL will do the needful and conform to the specifications,” Tynsong said.
As far as upgradation of Mawthabah – Wahkaji – Phlangdiloiñ – Ranikor road to two lanes, Tynsong said that the second phase of the project will be taken up soon. He also informed that the State government has selected a consultant to prepare the detailed project report.
“This road will be constructed in the form of an intermediate lane,” he said.
